Year 2 2025 - 2026

Welcome to Year 2.

This year will be Mrs Lloyd will be teaching on Monday – Thursday and Miss Bower on Fridays.

Mrs Campbell is the Teaching Assistant.

In Autumn term our learning in English will focus on reading and writing about Peace at Last and George's Marvellous Medicine as well as reading a wide variety of texts in Guided Reading. We will continue to develop our knowledge and understanding of faith in our Religious Education lessons about Creation and Covenant in Autumn 1 and  Prophecy and Promise in Autumn 2. In Maths we will consolidate our learning about Place Value and use this knoweldge to assist us with addition and subtraction before progressing to work on Shape. As Scientists we will learn about Living in Habitats and Everyday Materials. Our History learning will be about The Great Fire of London and our Geography work will be about using Maps. Our PE days are Thursday and Friday.

This year we made improvements to our home reading book system. All the children will bring home one reading book, these are are phonetically decodable and match your child’s phonics knowledge. Books will be changed on a Monday and Thursday to encourage over-reading for fluency.

Homework, including spellings, will be given out on Fridays and should be returned by Wednesday in order for this to be marked. There will be a spelling quiz on a Friday.
